All tires inflated with air, gradually lose their quality. This is commonly called " aging " of the tire. The real reason for the change of the properties of a tire is in the oxygen molecules contained in the air with which the tire is inflated. It is a mixture of several gases - mainly nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (21 %). The inner part of the tire is airtight, and in it are implanted chemicals called antioxidants which reduce aging. Their purpose is to neutralize the invading oxygen, but their effect has certain durability.
Therefore, "aging" of the tire begins from the inside, a first and gradually spread out. Initially the bandage belt is destroyed and subsequently the insulating layer next to it. This process continues to cover the outer tire layers due to the difference in the values of the pressure inside the tire and the atmospheric pressure outside it. There is a chemical reaction between oxygen molecules and tire polymers, wherein the rubber molecules lose their stability and elasticity. So the tire loses its properties and acquire characteristics of soft plastic. Destruction of the tireis accelerating by the inflations – during inflation new moist air is inserted in order to maintain the recommender pressure, and humidity in the tire causes the occurrence of a difference in pressure and rust on the rim.
